Alternative Education and Work Center Program (AEWC)

Welcome to North Hollywood- Polytechnic Education & Career Center Los Angeles Unified School District Division of Adult and Career Education Accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges

AEWC is an independent study program for youths between the ages
of 16 and 18 who now longer attend a traditional high school.
Students can earn credits to return to a comprehensive high school,
complete their high school diploma, or prepare for the GED exam.
Eligibility
The student:
1) is 16-18 years old.
2) left school and/or is 1 or more years behind in credits.
3) has basic skills necessary for independent study as demonstrated
by placement tests and student interviews.
4) is willing and able to be responsible for learning.
5) wants to graduate.
Benefits to AEWC
1) Open Entry/ Open Exit.
2) Weekly appointments and flexible scheduling.
3) Individualized competency-based instruction.
4) Small Learning Community (Outreach Consultant, Teacher,
Teacher's Aide, Psychiatric Social Workers).
5) Consistency of program if student moves to another location.
