POLY CAMPUS MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S PICNIC
The Poly Campus is planning a potluck picnic on the Poly Quad for the last night of Summer School.  From 7:15 – 9
classes will sit under the stars sharing food and enjoying each other’s company.  The campus’ own stars will entertain
from time to time during the evening with international music and dance.  One of the highlights of the evening will no
doubt be the world premiere of the new line dance troupe Faculty Feet, choreographed by principal dancer, Kathy
Javaheri.  Come on out Poly Campus and join the midsummer night’s fun.

the important process.  The committee members teach at all three main campuses and several branch locations and
represent all ESL levels.  The committee will be evaluating core ESL textbooks in order to recommend texts to be used
at all levels in the ESL Program.  ESL teachers who would like to serve on this committee may still join and participate in
the process.  You may contact committee chair Anne Byrnes or assistant principal Chan Bostwick to sign up.    The com-
mittee’s work will continue well into the fall semester.  If you are not able to serve on the committee but would like to
suggest a textbook to be considered, you may contact one of the following committee members:  Don Burton, Karen
Cruz, Jane DiBattista, Chris Jones, Esperanza Lucero, Sarah Mallery, Myrna Montenegro, Ann Pett, Michael Perronne,
Sharon Poppleton, Elizabeth Regalado, Steve Schmissrauter, and Norma Smith.

RENEWED CREDENTIALS – A REMINDER
Teachers are reminded to register renewed credentials with DACE credential specialist Rosalind Cook after the
renewal.  Failure to do that will result in not being able to work.  Also, be sure to turn in a copy of the renewed credential
to SAA Carlos Santoyo for the school’s personnel files.

DACE FALL CONFERENCE – OCTOBER 11

That’s who we are and what we do.  Attend the Sat. event at the Los Angeles Convention Center (7:15 a.m.-2:45 p.m.)
to celebrate, to communicate and to connect with hundreds of colleagues from across the Division.  There will be
workshops, displays, carousel presentations, exhibitors, continental breakfast, lunch with keynote speaker, not to
mention prizes and giveaways.  Something for everyone!!

FACULTY TECHNOLOGY SURVEY
Faculty members are asked to complete this survey to assist the technology committee in assess-ing the school
community’s technological experience and needs.  You may access the survey at http://www.quia.com/sv/193431.html.
The password is “adult school.”  See 7/28 memo from committee for additional information.

CBET PLEDGE CARDS/TUTORING LOGS
Thanks to the 21 ESL/CBET teachers who have turned in 102 CBET Pledge Cards this summer.

Tutoring Logs will be collected the last week of Summer School.  Teachers are asked to review the Logs now to make
sure entries have been done correctly and completely.  It’s very important to have all the information at the top of the
Log filled in, especially student ID numbers and section numbers.  FYI, we sent all of the Pledge Cards to the Division
Central Office last month.  All of the K-12 students’ names were input into a system so that their academic achievements
can be tracked.  The hope – and expectation - is that their academic benchmarks will prove the effectiveness of the
CBET Program.  Those results will no doubt have huge implications on CBET funding in future years.  Today we sent all
of the 07-08 Tutoring Logs to the Central Office for audit purposes.
